The Mother Church — Madre Chiesa Saint Cristoforo

"Village of My Beloved" — The Heart of Valguarnera

The parish church of Valguarnera Caropepe, dedicated to Saint Cristoforo, is the source of the earliest records documenting the Interlicchia family. It was here, on 6 May 1687, that Joseph Interlizzi married Paula Mordenca — the marriage that begins the documented Interlicchia family tree. The church's baptismal, marriage, and death records, many of which survive to this day, are an invaluable resource for anyone researching Sicilian genealogy.
